Here are the identities of the Mystery Warriors: #1 – Margo MacDonald, #2 – Marilyn Busselle and #3 – Mike Hines. Mickey Emmons was the only one to properly identify #1 - Margo. Mouse was the only one to ID #2 - Marilyn, and Margo was the only on who knew Mike was #3.

Hopefully, we can do better with the buildings.

Thank you for printing this. I am one of Ann's younger brothers. She loved her years at Central and all the people. We really miss her. She adopted my family with full force. We had five daughters and two granddaughters for her to pamper and spoil. Often I think we had the household of girls just for her. She was the best sister to me also. I shall always be grateful. She lived with a lot of energy and love. I hope to keep that legacy alive.

CRUISE UPDATE

The Tribal Council’s Travel sub committee, that’d be Leonard Engelberg, has presented some choices of cruises in conjunction with next June’s ’63 Grand Reunion, the weekend of June 20^th. Below is the link to the cruise site. While most information, i.e. ship names, departure dates, and ports of call, remain firm, some details will remain somewhat fluid, and are subject to being updated. For instance, the prices shown may be reduced if “large group discounts” are offered. We would also encourage Warriors to invite friends and family to book passage through the chosen agent, once all

Without making a commitment, please indicate your interest in the idea of a cruise, as “HIGH”, or“SOMEWHAT INTERESTED”, if you’re not interested, there is no need to respond. If you do respond, rank you’re your preferences of the choices offered, from 1 to 4 with 1 being your first choice.

Newspaper weeds away

Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.

The Oct. 29th. SupperClub saw another near record attendance of 40, including four making their inaugural appearance. New faces were: Jo Eddye Moore Robinson (CHS’62), Steve Davis (CHS’62), Jim Wilson (CHS’64), and Pat Kirwan whose wife, Carol Romano Kirwan (CHS’65) could not attend. Click for pics.

Sept. 21st - From Linda Hottum White. Ann (Mayton) was a very very close friend all during high school. We had our first cigarette together. Gee the things you remember.

All is well here in North Carolina. My second daughter (Amy) is expecting a baby in December. She isdoing her internship at UNC hospitals. My oldest daughter’s ( Jennifer) little girl will be one year old in October. My youngest daughter ( Susannah) is back in school and is planning to apply for graduate school soon.

I am still working at the community college and hope to retire in three years.

Oct 1st ^- Chuck done good! - Charles C. King III was one of only two local bankers named members of Leaders in Banking Excellence, a program that recognizes an elite group representing Tennessee bankers who have excelled in the areas of banking, community service and civic involvement. The Tennessee Bankers Association recently honored them during a ceremony at the TBA’s new headquarters building in Nashville. Click for pics and story.

Oct 23rd – Dr.Howard Curlin, son of John and Leeba Andrews Curlin, has been deployed to Iraq for a 15 month tour. Leeba has forwarded his first letter along with her request to keep him, David and Caleb in your daily prayers. If you want to read Howard’s letter CLICK HERE! and we will email you a copy. Nov 3rd – Sleep well tonight, Sgt. Pepper is awake. ….That is until about 9 or 9:30.

Bob Pepper been accepted into the Tennessee State Guard, First Special Operations Unit, Tango Detachment, with the rank of Sargent, E-5. The Tennessee State Guard is the 3^rd branch of the state military, which includes the Army National Guard, and the Air Force National Guard. The all-volunteer group provides a professional complement of personnel to support the State mission of the Federal homeland security requirements.

Sep 30th – In an editorial appearing in today’s paper, Chris Peck, editor of the Commercial Appeal writes “ Memphis, in fact, is arguably the most corrupt city of its size in the country.

Sep 30th – University of Memphis football player Taylor Bradford was slain on campus. Media reports indicate that Bradford had won several thousand dollars at a Tunica Casino. Apparently, he still had the money on him when he was found. He had just attended an on-campus symposium on race and violence, went to his apartment, then to his car. He was shot on campus and drove across the street where he hit a tree and was subsequently found. One of the 4 men charged in the crime was a former student and part-time worker at the U of M who was dating Bradford’s former girlfriend.

Oct 8th – Memphis tied an all time October record high temperature of 95 originally set in on Oct. 8, 1963.

Oct. – The C.A. reports that the Memphis City schools’ food services department has lost more than $3.6 million since 2006. The staggering loss comes from food spoilage, 42 truckloads, ruined primarily from over ordering and subsequent improper refrigeration. The audit of the Central Nutrition Center also shows that the director ordered over $80,000 worth of luxury furniture and abused the system’s travel policy. Numerous violations of federal guidelines may jeopardize federal funding.

Oct 24th – A 15 year old Manassas High student faces numerous felony charges after the gun he carried to school in his coat pocket with the intent to sell, discharged and struck his friend.

Oct 26th – ♪♫ AND THE BEAT GOES ON ♪♫  A Federal Grand jury has subpoenaed school system records involving the system’s bidding procedures on 17 construction projects. Among those projects is the renovation to Central High school.

Nov 2nd- O Deaton, Where Art Thou?. With a 17 – 14 victory over Craigmont, The Warriors closed out a 4-6 season, Friday night.

Nov 3rd - Mary Jo Johnson Walker’s sister, Dorothy Burrow passed away today in Memphis.

Gleason and Frank Sinatra who had been proposed to him, choosing instead the stoic, talented Matthau. During the filming, Matthau suffered a heart attackand subsequently lost 30 pounds. After a week’s shutdown, filming resumed with Matthau wearing a bulky coat to conceal the weight loss.

Memphis, with the headquarters of shipping giant FedEx Corp., is the world’s busiest airport for cargo.
